We still build all our docks with pressure treated wood. Skirt board has been a popular option since 2018. It covers the exposed 2x8 wood framing immediately below the decking level and prevents the staining, algae growth and discoloring caused by rain, moisture and harmful UV light.
Exposed rafters has long been what is expected on docks for years. All it took was one client to ask for the finish options to start a trend with our new builds.
