Stationary Dock on 8x8 Pilings

Project Overview

My personal dock was one of the most challenging docks we’ve ever built—mainly because it was mine. Designing for yourself can be the hardest project of all, but the finished result was well worth it.

The dock features an upper deck with a jump platform, a conversation pit, a diving board, two Neptune boat lifts, and two 2,000-pound electric jet-ski lifts. The layout was designed around an expansive sitting and living area, with the boat lifts positioned outside the roofline. Because uncovered boat lifts do not count toward the allowable square footage, we were able to dedicate the full 1,000 square feet to covered gathering and entertainment space.

To the best of our knowledge, this was also the first dock on Lake Wylie to be framed entirely with Owens Corning structural composite lumber. This innovative material was chosen for its strength, durability, and resistance to the harsh conditions that come with life on the water. Since completing this project, we’ve built only one other dock using the same structural composite framing system for a client in Fort Mill.

The dock also served as the inspiration for the one we built for the 2026 HGTV Dream Home. If you’ve seen that dock, you’ll probably notice the resemblance.

This dock has truly become an extension of our home and the hub of our gatherings with friends and family. We use it far more than we ever expected, even more than the dock at our previous home and spend more time there than we do on our poolside patio. It has become our favorite place to relax, entertain, and enjoy everything Lake Wylie has to offer.

A Dream 50+ Years in the Making - Worth Every Penny We've lived on Lake Wylie for decades, and for years I dreamed of building a real dock to replace our simple platform. When I finally decided to make it happen, I initially went with one of Waterjack's competitors - went through surveys, designs, estimates, and even put down a sizable deposit. Then I met Casey. True craftsmen. - The Result: We now have a covered dock with a boat lift for our tritoon, two jet ski lifts, an entertainment area with TV, plus open areas for swimming and fishing. The upgraded lighting (including underwater lights) looks absolutely stunning at night. It's exactly what I dreamed of for all those years. I can't recommend Waterjack highly enough. This structure will last many lifetimes, and I can't wait for my family to gather here and make memories on the water like never before.
