Vanourny

Custom boat dock with Inlay

Lake Wylie, South Carolina

Project Overview

The Vanourny boathouse was designed as a custom waterfront retreat, combining practical boat storage with a comfortable and versatile space for enjoying life on Lake Wylie. Built for another one of our neighbors, this project turned out beautifully and remains one of our favorite designs.

Every exterior material was carefully selected to be virtually maintenance-free. Aside from a thorough cleaning after pollen season, the dock requires very little upkeep and continues to look great year after year.

This was also one of the first docks where we used tongue-and-groove cedar to finish the ceiling. The natural warmth of the cedar adds character and creates a more polished, inviting atmosphere beneath the roof. Approximately eight years later, the ceiling—and the boathouse as a whole—still looks fantastic, proving that quality materials and thoughtful design can provide lasting beauty and enjoyment on the waterfront.
